During the course of investigation, LPA interviewed 4 staff members, 3 parents and 4 children. LPA also obtained a Children’s Roster and Personnel Report.
Regarding the allegation, “Staff yells at children”, three (3) out of four (4) staff members denied yelling at children and did not observe any staff yell at children. Staff #2 (S2) stated room #2 is kind of rowdy because they are toddlers so teachers (S5) may have to project their voice to get the children’s attention. S2 occasionally assists in room #2 and S2 stated that the teachers are nice and not mean to the children. Staff #3 (S3) denied yelling at children but rather uses a firm tone yes but not rough. S3 indicated that S3 redirects the children a lot. Room #2 shares a bathroom with S3’s class so S3 can hear that sometimes S5 speaks loudly but it’s more for attention. Four (4) out of four (4) children denied ever being yelled at by staff. Three (3) out of three (3) interviewed parents did not disclose any information related to the allegation.
Based on observation, record reviews, and interviews there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that Staff yells at children.
Regarding the allegation, “Staff do not provide a safe environment for children in care”, four (4) out of four (4) staff denied staff do not provide a safe environment for children. Staff #1 (S1) ensures a safe environment for children in care by checking the classrooms and ensures there aren’t hazardous items within the reach of the kids like cleaning supplies and scissors. S1 stated always supervising the children. S2 reported inspecting the outdoor spaces before taking the children out, making sure all the gates were closed. In the classroom, by making sure the children are not running and that everyone is safe and watching them in the bathroom. S2 stated that S2 keeps S2’s eyes on the kids and doors and makes sure the toys are safe. S2 manages challenging behaviors by redirecting the children and talking to them. S3 stated that S3 ensures a safe environment for children in care by always being prepared, sanitize everything, and by making sure that things they can chew are out of reach, shelves are bolted down, and maintain supervision. S3 indicated that S3 doesn’t turn S3’s back to the kids, stay close to the biters. Staff #4 (S4) stated that S4 ensures a safe environment for children in care by keeping a prepared classroom, clean, and free of hazards, maintaining constant visual supervision, and engaging the children with various activities. Four (4) out of four (4) children interviewed did not make disclosures about the above allegation. Three (3) out of three (3) interviewed parents stated did not disclose any information related to the allegation. Page 2 of 3
