25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Aiddee Nunez conducted an announced Case Management inspection for the purpose of facility's request to add a toddler option to their preschool program. LPA met with Assistant Director Michelle Nazzareno and Nicole Royston. Currently the facility is licensed for 185 children ages 2 to 6 years old in rooms 1 (Johnny 1), 2 (Johnny 2), 3 (Johnny 3), 4 (Ruby 1), 5 (Ruby 2), 6 (Bluebell), 7 (Poppy PT), 8 (Poppy 2) and 9 (Poppy 1). The facility has requested to include 24 toddlers ages 18 to 36 months old from Toddler Option Program in Rooms 7 (Poppy PT), 8 (Poppy 2), 9 (Poppy 1) included in the total capacity of 185 children without changing the total capacity of 185 children on the preschool license.
LPA was given a tour of the preschool classrooms inside and outside by Assistant Director Michelle Nazzareno. LPA observed the facility was following CDC and Dept of Public Guidelines. Census was taken. There was a total of 80 preschool children with 21 staff members and 6 toddlers with 4 staff members present today.
A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Classrooms are adequately equipped with age and size appropriate furniture and equipment including the requested adding rooms 7 (Poppy PT), 8 (Poppy 2) and 9 (Poppy 1). Drinking water is available inside by children’s personalized water bottles and water fountain inside the classroom. Sign in/Sign out procedure is electronically and was reviewed and meets regulation requirements. There is a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher that meet statutory requirements. Cubbies available for storage of individual child’s personal belongings and/or bedding
Napping equipment (mats) are stored in a locked storage room in each classroom. Bedding will be washed weekly by the parents.
