During the staff interviews, 2 out of 2 staff stated they have not transported more children than the allowable limit for the vehicle. Staff #1 (S1) stated in the morning, S1 does not transport any children to school, only in the afternoon there are about 8 children but in separate groups. S1 denied ever transporting children and there weren’t enough seatbelts for everyone in the car. S1 ensures the safety of children when transporting them, S1 puts the children in the van and makes sure they are sitting down, and that the children have their seat belt on. S1 does not drive away until their seatbelts are on. S1 stated S1 or any other staff do not transport more children than the allowable capacity for the vehicle, that is why staff do more than one trip. Staff #2 (S2) stated that children are transported daily, in the morning, it’s about 8 or 9. In the afternoon, it varies but on average about 10-12 children. S2 stated staff are trained on how to be safe drivers and how to transport the children safely. S2 stated if there are more children that need to be transported than the capacity of the vehicle, staff are in constant communication with each other and if needed the other van would come to help. The staff would wait there with the kids until the other van came.

LPA also interviewed Adult #1 (A1) who stated it was reported by A1’s staff that in the afternoon a minivan arrived to pick Child #1 (C1) up but there were many children inside; A1 stated that A1 observed there were at least 15 children in the facility’s van. Due to concerns about exceeding the vehicle’s capacity, A1’s staff decided not to release C1 to the facility staff. Later that day, they released C1 to another facility staff.

LPA reviewed the sign in/out sheets for the school-age children, LPA observed 11 children signed in which is less than the alleged 15 children A1 stated seeing. The facility has two vans to transport children, LPA inspected the vans, both vans have a capacity for 7. .

Child #1 (C1) stated remembering at least 5 other children in the van at pick up. Child #2 (C2) recalls every child in the van had a seatbelt and there weren’t too many children in the van. Child #3 (C3) recalls at least two other children in the van at pick up. Child #4 (C4) did not make any disclosures about the allegation.

Five parents were called to be interviewed, 3 of 3 parents interviewed had no issues or concerns with the daycare.
