32 | Sarah stated there is a smoking area that is outside of the facility. Sarah stated that a smoking area was designated due to having multiple residents that were smokers. Sarah stated smoking in building would not be tolerated and could lead to warnings and evictions.
Sarah explained that someone that smokes may retain the scent of the cigarettes, but denies anyone smoking in the building or right in front of the doors. Sarah stated the designated smoking area is off to left of the community.
It was alleged that staff speak disrespectfully to residents, 3 out of 3 staff deny speaking disrespectfully to residents. Sarah reported that during a resident council meeting when the issue of smoking was brought up, Sarah asked that residents provide a date/time of the incident so it can be investigated right away. Sarah stated at no point did she speak disrespectfully to residents. 2 out of 2 residents interviewed stated no one has spoken to them disrespectfully.
Therefore based on the preponderance of evidence through records reviewed, observation and interviews the allegations staff are not following the residency agreement, staff are not preventing cigarette smoke from entering the building, and staff speak disrespectfully to residents, are determined to be UNSUBSTANTIATED, meaning that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is no preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violations did or did not occur as reported.
An exit interview was conducted and a copy of this report was provided. |
