On this Day, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Andrea Mendivil made an unannounced visit to conduct a complaint investigation. LPA was greeted and granted entry into the facility by Amber Wofford and explained the reason for the visit.

The department received a complaint on 01/22/2024 and the initial 10 day visit was conducted on 01/29/2024. During the visit LPA Mendivil interviewed staff. Regarding the allegation that facility Licensees is not revealing the facility license number in all advertisements, the investigation revealed the following:

LPA Mendivil observed an advertisement which contained a QR code which leads to the Newport Healthcare website. LPA Mendivil observed the advertisement to not contain license numbers for Newport Institute – Miramar.

Per interview with Crystal Goodwin Compliance Officer the advertisement is for all Newport Healthcare locations which span over multiple states and are throughout all of California. Crystal stated this advertisement is not region specific which is why they do not list their license numbers.

Therefore based on the preponderance of evidence through records reviewed the allegation Licensees is not revealing the facility license number in all advertisements is determined to be SUBSTANTIATED, meaning the complaint allegation is valid and that a violation has occurred.

The following is being cited per California Code of Regulations Title 22 Division 6 Chapter 8. A civil penalty is assessed based on a repeat violation cited on 04/17/2023.

An exit interview was conducted and a copy of this report and appeal rights was provided to the facility representative.
