Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jeremey McClain met with licensee Mackenzie Walsh-Cheshire for the purpose of a Case Management inspection. The purpose of today’s inspection was to ensure compliance with AB 2866 additions to Health and Safety Code (HSC) 1596.814.

Nine children were observed during today’s inspection. Licensee’s assistants were present.

Today LPA observed the following:
1. A life ring with a minimum exterior diameter of 17 inches and labeled as approved by the United States Coast Guard.
2. A rescue pole with a body hook and minimum fixed length of 12 feet.
3. An iron-rod fence that meets the following requirements: (1) isolates the swimming pool from access to the home; (2) is a minimum height of 60 inches; (3) has a maximum vertical clearance of two inches from the ground to the bottom of the enclosure; (4) has no gaps that can allow the passage of a sphere with a diameter of 4 or more inches; (5) has no protrusions, cavities or other physical characteristics that could serve as handholds or footholds for a child to climb over; and (6) the access gate must swing away from the pool and be self-closing with a self-latching, key lockable device placed no lower than 60 inches above the ground.
4. Documented daily inspections for pool safety.

Licensee showed proof that an ASTM International Standard F2208 pool alarm is being delivered today. Licensee will send proof to LPA that the alarm is installed and functional via video by 02/07/2025.

This report was reviewed with the licensee and a Notice of Site Visit was provided and should remain posted for 30 days.
