25 | On December 6th, 2022, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Jeremey McClain and Katrina Owens met with Licensing Representative Melissa Moenning for an unannounced required annual random inspection. LPAs observed care and supervision of 67 preschool children by 7 staff throughout five classrooms; and 8 napping toddlers supervised by 1 staff member.
LPA inspected all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service, and outdoor play areas. Hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in operable and safe condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts, and adequate cushioning was observed in areas underneath climbing equipment. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The food preparation space is free of litter and all food was protected against contamination. Storage containers with solid waste have tight-fitting covers in each classroom. No children in care require medications. LPA observed functional carbon monoxide detector.
Morning and afternoon snacks are provided by the facility, and families provide their own lunches. LPA observed posted menus showing planned meals at least a week in advance. The facility is exempt from the requirements of Assembly Bill 2370, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their drinking water for lead contamination.
The facility currently utilizes and electronic sign in and out sheet.
LPA reviewed records for all present staff. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification which expires (12/2023). All staff currently employed with the facility have: a criminal record clearance, a health screening report, immunization records, current AB1207 Mandated Reporter Training, and documentation of their educational background, training, and/or experience.
