On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) Lea Habtom and Tanya Washington met with General Manager Erica Ouji, for the purpose of an unannounced, required - 1 year inspection. There were no children present at the time of the inspection. The facility has no current school age children enrolled. Facility hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday.

All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained criminal record clearance. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA toured all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service, and outdoor play areas. There are no medications. Medication storage is inaccessible to children. Director stated that there are no poisons at the facility. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of hazards. LPA observed outdoor playground area of the facility. The areas around or under climbing equipment are cushioned with bark. LPA observed that bark is sufficient. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. Toilets have stall doors to provide privacy. Facility may continue to provide PM snack or will notify parents to provide snack. Menus were posted in the facility. The food preparation space is free of litter and all food was protected against contamination. Storage containers with solid waste have tight-fitting lids.

Children will supply their own labeled water bottles for drinking. Sign in & sign out is used via an online application system, Brightwheel. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector.

There are no staff. LPA discussed educational requirements for school age staff. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification. LPA reminded designated staff member of requirements for immunization records and documentation of the educational background, training, and/or experience and AB 1207 Mandated Reporter training certificates.

There are no children enrolled in the program. LPA discussed forms needed in the children files such as an emergency card, consent for emergency medical treatment and notifications of children’s and parent’s rights.

There are no children in care and no medications. Incidental Medical Services – IMS was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual – Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. LPA observed sunscreen forms on file.

LPA discussed annual fees. LPA informed the Director of the recent regional office relocation and provided updated personal and parent's rights forms and postings.

Facility Representative was informed of the www.mychildcareplan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

In the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were cited during today’s inspection. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with General Manager, Erica Ouji. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
