25 | On Thursday, February 8, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) Lea Habtom and Loraine Perez met with Licensee, Kristy Flake, for the purpose of an unannounced inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed licensee and her 2 assistants supervising 10 children consisting of 2 infants and 8 preschool children. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. Licensee confirmed that there are no new residents since the last inspection. LPA observed proper ratio and capacity was being followed. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
A health and safety evaluation was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limit areas includes: upstairs bedrooms, detached garage, well house and rear pasture. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. During today's inspection, LPA updated off limit areas to remove all of upstairs. Effective February 8, 2024 off limit areas now includes: all of upstairs, detached garage, well house and rear pasture. LPA observed that the facility is clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair. LPA observed a functioning smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and a full 2A10BC fire extinguisher. The facility has adequate toys that appear to be safe for children to use. LPAs observed the weapons and ammunition stored and locked separately. There is no fireplace in the day care space. The backyard is fenced and there are no bodies of water.
LPA reviewed four children’s files which were observed to be complete. Required postings and the children’s roster were observed. Licensee has a current fire drill log. Licensee’s CPR/First Aid card expires 3/2024. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter certificate expires 3/13/2024. Licensee understands that trainings must be completed every two years.
LPA verified that the annual fees are current. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
