32 | LPA observed a total of nine sinks and four toilets available to preschool children in the Discovery Den Restroom and Creative Corral Restroom. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 40 preschool children. There is a separate staff restroom equipped with a toilet and sink located near the kitchen. The isolation area for children who are ill will be the entryway sign in area.
Facility will provide morning and afternoon snacks and parents will provide lunch for children in care. The kitchen area currently includes refrigeration, sinks, and counter space. The kitchen area and food storage areas were observed free of rodents and/or vermin. Hazardous items in kitchen are inaccessible to children.
The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area for preschool children. Fencing was at least four feet high in all areas. LPA measured total square footage for the outdoor preschool space of 5,901.21, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 40 preschool children. Shade is provided via an awning, nearby trees, and the facility building.
There are sufficient outdoor toys and play equipment available on the playground. LPA reminded Licensee Representative to ensure that all play equipment and structures are only utilized by appropriate age groups. There is adequate cushioning in fall zones provided by wood chips. Drinking water is available via drinking fountain and individual containers provided by parents. LPA observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Licensee Representative was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing.
For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP).
Licensee Representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
