25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kelli Waters conducted an unannounced annual inspection for a family childcare at the above home on 10/24/25 at time listed above. LPA met with Licensee, Wendy Nelson, who guided LPA on a tour of the home. Present during the inspection was Licensee, an adult resident, an assistant, an adult visitor, and 6 children in care (2 infants, 4 preschool age).
The facility operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM each day. Certain areas are off-limits, including the entire second floor, laundry room, kitchen, and garage. The facility is licensed as a large Family Child Care Home (FCCH) with a maximum capacity of 14 children and is operating within the licensed capacity. The fire clearance for a large family childcare was approved on 03/20/24 by Murrieta Fire Department.
Facility Review:
During the inspection, LPA observed a working cell phone is available, and the current phone number on file is correct. A fully charged fire extinguisher (2A:10BC) was observed, along with a functioning smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, both of which were tested by the Licensee. The fireplace is properly screened to prevent access by children, and stairs are barricaded with a baby gate when children are in care. All hazardous items, including toxins, are stored securely and are inaccessible to children. LPA observed clean, safe, and age-appropriate toys for children.
Licensee, Wendy Nelson, stated that no weapons are present in the facility. Licensee understands that all firearms, weapons, and ammunition must be locked separately and made inaccessible as per Title 22 Regulations.
