32 | The facility provides clean, safe, and age-appropriate toys for children. A current roster is on file, and required postings, including the Facility Sketch, Emergency Disaster Plan, and Notification of Parent’s Rights, are displayed. Fire and disaster drill documentation is maintained, with the last drill conducted on May 1, 2024.
There is an in-ground pool present. The pool is surrounded by a mesh fence which measures at least 5 feet in height with a self-latching, self-closing gate. The fencing is not more than two inches from the ground and there are no gaps between the panels that measure more than 4 inches. Two of the panels have visible wear and tear present and licensee has used an additional mesh to cover the tears. The Licensee was advised to replace the mesh for the two panels immediately and submit the pictures to the department. There is a 24-inch US Coast Guard approved lifesaving ring and a rescue pole with a body hook measuring at a fixed length of 12 feet. The Licensee has a working water pool alarm which was tested during this visit and the pool alarm meets ASTM F2208.
LPA observed that a daily pool inspection log is being completed on days of operation, and all safety measures are in place before the facility opens.
Both children's and employees' records are complete. Mandated Reporter Training has been completed and is valid until 02/16/2026. The Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification expires on 10/2025. Resident and staff records were reviewed, and all adults requiring caregiver background checks have received the necessary clearances and exemptions.
Licensee Erika Cervantes was reminded that all adults 18 and over, living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
