25 | On 02/26/2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gabriela Hernandez and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Pauline Beschorner arrived at the family child care home to conduct a case management inspection to inspect newly installed pool fencing. Licensee Ana Lizarraga replaced wrought iron fence with mesh fencing.
During today's inspection, the following was observed: LPA observed a 5 ft mesh fence that is in compliance with ASTM International Standard F2286. Licensee provided documentation confirming it is in compliance with ASTM International Standard F2286. The mesh fence was installed and connected from the back of the home to the brick wall of the backdoor neighbor ensuring the pool is inaccessible to children in care. LPA verified gate opens away from swimming pool, self closing and self latching. LPA verified the pool alarm is in working order and in compliance with ASTM International Standard F2208. Licensee provided documentation confirming it is compliance with ASTM International Standard F2208. LPA verified there is a life ring with minimum exterior diameter of 17 inches and approved by the U.S. Coast Guard. LPA observed a rescue pole with a body hook. The rescue pole is 12 ft, however adjustable. At the time of inspection, the rescue pole was at the required length of 12 ft. There are 4 windows that lead into the pool area from the home, however all 4 windows are permanently shut and cannot be open; therefore there is no direct access to the pool from the home. LPA confirmed the applicant that a daily pool inspection log to ensure all safety measures are in place before the facility open.
The fencing meets Title 22 Regulations and the pool is inaccessible as of this date. LPA advised licensee to be vigilant of any wear and tear on the fencing, gates, spring and latch and ensure it continues to meet requirements.
An exit interview was conducted and this report was reviewed with and provided to Licensee Ana Lizarraga. A notice of site visit was printed and must be posted for 30 consecutive days. Appeal Rights were given to Licensee.
