There is an in-ground pool present in the backyard. The pool has a 5-foot mesh fence, that is installed enclosing the entire swimming pool. There are no visible gaps or openings large enough to allow the passage of a sphere with a diameter of four inches or more. The fence has no protrusions, cavities, or other features that could serve as handholds or footholds for climbing. The gate was verified to open away from the pool and is self-closing and self-latching. The latch is equipped with a key-lockable device located at least 60 inches above ground level. A pool alarm is present and was tested by Licensee. Licensee has documentation of the alarm showing it meets the ASTM International Standard F2208. A life ring approved by the U.S Coast Guard with a minimum diameter of 17 inches was observed. A rescue pole with an attached body hook measuring at 12 ft. was observed in the pool area.
Both children's and employees' records are complete. Mandated Reporter Training has been completed and is valid until 06/19/2026 for Licensee. The Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification expires on 03/08/2027. Resident and staff records were reviewed, and all adults requiring caregiver background checks have received the necessary clearances and exemptions.
Licensee Adriana Ruiz was reminded that all adults 18 and over, living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
