There are pools, spas, or other bodies of water. There is an in-ground pool in the off-limit area of the backyard. The pool is fenced by mesh fencing; the back side of the pool has a wall consisting of concrete block that meets the right-side neighbor’s yard. The black mesh fence is five feet in height, and the bars in between are no greater than four inches apart. The gate/door swings away from the pool and it's self-latching/closing. During today's inspection, LPA did not observe items or objects near fencing that would reduce the fence’s height to less than 5 feet or make fence climbable by a child under six years old. Additionally, LPA advised Licensee to obtain the presence of required safety equipment: a life ring with a minimum exterior diameter of 17 inches, labeled as U.S. Coast Guard approved, and a fixed 12-foot rescue pole with a body hook. The pool alarm was observed in the pool and is compliant with ASTM International Standard F2208. The licensee should also maintain a daily pool inspection log to ensure all safety measures are in place prior to opening the facility. LPA advised licensee to be vigilant of any wear and tear on the fencing, gate, spring and latch. As of the date of this inspection, the fencing meets Title 22 Regulations. License understands that all bodies of water including ponds, above ground pools, spas, and some fountains must be properly covered or fenced per Title 22 Regulations. The Department must be notified before and after installation of the above types of bodies of water. In addition, all wading pools or similar products must be emptied immediately after use and stored in an upright position.
Both children's and employees' records are complete. Mandated Reporter Training has been completed and is valid until September 12, 2027. The Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification expires on January 5, 2026. Resident and staff records were reviewed, and all adults requiring caregiver background checks have received the necessary clearances and exemptions.
Licensee Monica Kelley was reminded that all adults 18 and over, living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
