32 | The facility provides clean, safe, and age-appropriate toys for children. A current roster is on file, and required postings, including the Facility Sketch, Emergency Disaster Plan, and Notification of Parent’s Rights, are displayed. Fire and disaster drill documentation is maintained, with the last drill conducted in July 2026.
The facility does have a pool and jacuzzi at the back of the home. The pool is completely enclosed be mesh fencing, measuring at 5 feet. LPA confirmed the fencing does not have any openings or gaps at the bottom and remains flush with the ground. Fencing sturdiness was tested and confirmed where the fence cannot be easily pushed over, broken, removed, or stretched by children. The pool gate is self-closing and self-latching. The gate swings open away from the body of water. The lock is positioned 60 inches from the ground. All fencing complies with ASTM International Standard F2286.
LPA verified that both the safety equipment, life ring and rescue pole are visible from the swimming pool. LPA confirmed that the pool is equipped with a functional pool alarm that is following ASTM International Standard F2208. With daily pool documentation current and available for review during inspection.
Both children's and employees' records are complete. Mandated Reporter Training has been completed and is valid until May 2027. The Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification expires in July 2027. Resident and staff records were reviewed, and all adults requiring caregiver background checks have received the necessary clearances and exemptions.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over, living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
