25 | On 03/13/2026, at 09:24 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Courtnee Peebles conducted an unannounced case management visit to evaluate a capacity increase request from a small to a large family child care home. LPA met with Licensee Kimahna Bruce, who provided a tour of the home. At the time of the visit, 8 children were present. The applicant stated that the hours of operation will remain Monday through Friday , from 07:30 AM to 05:30 PM, and that care will be provided for children aged eleven (11) weeks to seven (7) years of age. During the visit the facility had 9 children enrolled and 8 children present.
A fire clearance was granted on 03/05/2026, approving the facility as a large family child care home. The clearance specifies that only the first floor may be used for child care, excluding the garage.
During the tour, no immediate concerns were observed. The carbon monoxide and smoke detectors were tested and found to be in working order. The licensee acknowledged that when more than eight (8) children present, an assistant is required. If an assistant is unavailable, the licensee must adhere to the small family child care home ratio of no more than eight (8) children.
The licensee also confirmed their understanding that all adults aged 18 and older who assist, live, or volunteer in the home must undergo a fingerprint clearance before being present in the child care setting. Additionally, the licensee acknowledged the requirement to be present for at least 80% of the time when children are in care.
The application for a Large Family Child Care Home will be submitted for approval with a maximum capacity of 12 children, or 14 with parent notification. An exit interview was conducted, and the licensee received a copy of this report, Appeal Rights, and a Notice of Site Visit, which must be posted in a prominent location for 30 consecutive days.
