25 | On May 18, 2023 at 11:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tanya Washington met with Facility Representative Harpeet Heer for an unannounced annual inspection. LPA toured the facility including all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service and outdoor play areas. Census included 26 children with six staff. Facility Representative was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Shortly after LPAs arrival Center Manager Karen Hamman arrived to the facility to assist LPA with the remainder of the inspection.
Facility Representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Both classrooms appeared clean including the carpets and floor. Chemicals and cleaning materials were kept inaccessible to children. Playground equipment and surfaces were inspected and are in good condition with enough resilient material under climbing structures to absorb a fall. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors via water containers. There is adequate amount of shade in the outdoor play area. Bathrooms were clean and all sinks and toilets were in operating condition. LPA observed lids for trash cans with solid waste.
The Facility Representative states that there are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises and the facility has at least one functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detector. Menus were posted in the kitchen area, Facility Representative was reminded to also post a menu near the front entrance for parental review. LPA observed the appropriate postings were visible to parents. Facility serves children breakfast, lunch and PM snack, all meals are prepared at a kitchen located on site in the Annex room. LPA toured the kitchen and inspected it for cleanliness, proper food storage and expiration dates. All items checked during today's inspection were labeled and no expired food items were observed.
