Application Specialist (AS) Mai Lor and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Alize Tillery met with Licensee Tabitha Thompson for the purpose of an announced capacity change case management inspection. Licensee request to increase the preschool capacity from 159 to 216 preschool children ages three to entry into Kindergarten. The facility's hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. AS Lor received the fire clearance on 9/15/21.
AS and LPA conducted a health and safety inspection in all areas accessible to preschool children. AS and LPA measured 10 classrooms #1A, #1B, #2A, #2B, #3A, #3B, #4, #7, #,8, #9. The total classroom space contains a total of 9913.625 square feet, which will accommodate the requested capacity of 216 preschool children. There are 20 toilets and 22 sinks available to children, and a separate staff restroom is available. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the office and will use the staff restroom, if necessary.
AS and LPA observed sufficient number of furniture, toys, mats, cubbies, and play equipment in the classrooms. AS and LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector. AS and LPA observed disinfectants and medications are inaccessible and appropriately stored. AS and LPA observed an electronic sign-in/sign-out system. Licensee stated the facility will provide breakfast, lunch and PM snacks.
There are three outdoor area on the property designated for preschool. The outdoor play area is fenced with a chain link fence that is at least four feet tall. AS and LPA observed a variety of age-appropriate outdoor toys and equipment. There is a play structure on play yard #1 and #3 that is designated for children ages 2 to 5. Play yard #2 has a play structure designated for 2-12 years old. Applicant was reminded to follow the safety label and staff will provide supervision to ensure children under the age of 2 will not be at the play structure. AS and LPA observed wood chips used as cushioned. Each play yard is shaded with a shade structure.
