25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Kyrsten Williams and Soleil Marx met with Facility Representative, Director Melinda Siegel for an unannounced annual inspection of this preschool facility. Operating hours are 8:00 A.M to 2:30 P.M. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, with a minimum day schedule on Thursdays with an 11:45 A.M. dismissal. LPAs observed a census of 35 children supervised by 9 staff.
Criminal record clearance is on file with the district office. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in the classrooms, restrooms, and outdoor play areas. LPAs observed the following documents are posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, menus, and daily schedule. Cleaning disinfectants and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Director stated there are no poisons on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. Bins for solid waste have tight fitting lids. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The facility provides breakfast and lunch delivered by food services. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors via drinking fountains. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises. LPAs observed first aid equipment is readily available. Disaster drill has been conducted on 09/21/23 and documented. LPAs observed a functional carbon monoxide detector in each classroom. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. LPAs observed wood chip cushioning beneath the play structures. LPAs observed three holes in the dirt and uneven grounds throughout the outdoor activity space, which could be potential tripping hazards. Outdoor shade is provided by trees and a large canopy. |
