On April 19, 2024, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Lea Habtom and Loraine Perez met with Site Supervisor, Krystle Mitchell, for the purpose of an unannounced, required - 1 year inspection. The program is located on the school campus of North Country Elementary School in portable 1 and portable 3. There was a census of 37 school aged children being supervised by 3 staff and the program lead. The Site Supervisor, Krystle Mitchell, arrived during the inspection. Facility hours of operation are from 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday.

All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained criminal record clearance. Facility Representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA toured all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service, and outdoor play areas. Medications are properly stored and labeled, inaccessible to children. Facility Representative stated that there are no poisons at the facility. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of hazards. LPA observed outdoor playground area of the facility. The playground used is shared with the school campus. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. Facility provides breakfast and PM snack. Menus were posted in the facility. The food preparation space is free of litter and all food was protected against contamination. Storage containers with solid waste have tight-fitting lids.

Drinking water was readily available to children via drinking fountains, water pitchers and disposable cups. LPA observed digital signature parent app for sign-in & sign-out named HUBB. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector.

Staff files were reviewed. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification. LPA observed immunization records and documentation of the educational background, training, and/or experience and AB 1207 Mandated Reporter training certificates.

Children's records were reviewed. Each child's file contained an emergency card, consent for emergency medical treatment and notifications of children’s and parent’s rights.

Medications were verified. Incidental Medical Services – IMS was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual – Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. LPA observed sunscreen forms on file.

LPA discussed annual fees. LPA informed the Facility Representative of the recent regional office relocation and provided updated personal and parent's rights forms and postings.

Facility Representative was informed of the www.mychildcareplan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

In the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were cited during today’s inspection. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Site Supervisor, Krystle Mitchell. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days
