25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) Alize Tillery and Karyn Guerra met with Director Leticia Cuellar for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. Director was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. Upon arrival, LPAs observed 17 preschool children and 4 staff members in the preschool room. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
LPAs toured all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, kitchen area, and the outdoor play areas. LPAs observed the following documents are posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, menus, and daily schedule. Facility uses the app ProCare for signing children in and out and communicating with parents throughout the day. Cleaning disinfectants, hazardous items, and medications are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Director stated there are no poisons on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary and operating condition. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The food preparation space is free of litter, all food was protected against contamination, and storage containers with solid waste have tight-fitting covers. Program provides breakfast, lunch, and two snacks a day.
Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. LPAs observed a water cooler and children’s personal cups that are accessible to children in the main classroom. LPAs observed a functional water fountain outdoors. LPAs observed full legal signatures while reviewing the ProCare app sign in and sign out sheet. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. There is rubber bark beneath the climbing structure in the outdoor play area. There are sufficient equipment and toys. LPAs reminded the Director to keep the equipment clean and free from dust and to ensure equipment in good repair. There are shaded areas supplied by overhangs and trees.
