On 3/2/2023, at approximately 8:45 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Alize Tillery, made an unannounced visit to conclude the complaint investigation, regarding the allegation listed above. Upon arrival, LPA observed 8 infants, supervised by 3 staff. During today’s visit, LPA was assisted by Director Kasey Yarbrough.

It was alleged that the facility has rodents. During the course of the investigation, LPA conducted interviews with the reporting party and staff. Staff interviews were consistent and revealed that during a deep clean in the outdoor playground, staff #1 found a deceased rodent in a trash bin that is not used by day care children. Staff stated, due to the recent storm, the lid to the trash can was blown off. Staff also revealed that the facility does not have an ongoing insect or rodent issue.

During LPA's unannounced visits on 2/9/2023 and 3/2/2023, LPA conducted a thorough inspection of the buildings and grounds. LPA did not observe any rodents or rodent droppings.

Based on observations and information received during interviews, and given the circumstances of the recent storm, the allegation – facility has rodents – is unsubstantiated, meaning although the allegations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violations occurred.

LPA reviewed and provided the report to the Director. Appeal rights were given, along with a Notice of Site Visit – which must remain posted for 30 days.
