13 | On 03/28/2024, Licensing Program Analyst Katy Velazquez (LPA) conducted an unannounced complaint investigation to deliver the findings for the above allegation. LPA met with Assistant Director Amy Moreno (D1). Throughout the course of the investigation, LPA conducted physical plant inspections, on-site observations, and interviews. LPA reviewed and collected documentation pertaining to the allegation. It was alleged that a staff member used an inappropriate form of discipline when removing a child's stuffie during nap time. Interviews reveal that the child was throwing the stuffie and disrupting the nap environment. Interviews also reveal, that children have the opportunity to get their stuffie back once it has been removed. This practice is used as reinforcement for a preferred behavior and a classroom management strategy. There was not a preponderance of evidence to prove or negate the allegation, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED. In the areas that were evaluated on 03/28/2024, no deficiencies were cited during today's inspection. An exit interview was conducted with Assistant Director Moreno and Appeal Rights were provided by LPA. A Notice of Site visit was posted by LPA and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
