13 | On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at approximately 10:15 AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Josiah Gathing met with Director Glennis Miller, for the purpose of a complaint investigation and to deliver findings. It was alleged that the facility has a rodent infestation and infants are not being allowed outdoor activity time. Throughout the course of the investigation, LPA conducted interviews, reviewed documents, and made observations. Staff stated in initial interview that rodents had been observed in the outdoor play areas and infants were not being allowed outdoors due to health and safety concerns. Staff stated that pest control had recently visited and set up bait boxes and would follow up soon. LPA received an inspection report showing the pest control services. Staff also used wiring to seal access to an outdoor area in which rodents may have congregated. During a follow-up inspection, staff stated that no rodents had been observed in over a week and that infants would be allowed outdoors the following week after outdoor cleaning.
Although the alleged violations may have happened or are valid, the preponderance of evidence standard has not been met to fully prove or disprove that they did or did not occur, therefore, they are unsubstantiated. An exit interview was conducted and a notice of site visit provided. Notice of site visit shall remain posted for 30 days. |
