25 | Licensing Program Analyst Jennifer Velasco (LPA) met with Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) Coordinator of Early Childhood Education Jacqueline Wyse (M1) and Site Supervisor Bariah Kimbell (D1) , for the purpose of a case management inspection. The preschool facility currently operates in Room K1 and has requested to change to the new Preschool room and operate at a capacity of 24 preschool aged children. Room K1 will no longer be on the license; it is being replaced by Preschool Room. This facility operates on the campus of Theodore Judah Elementary School and is operated by Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD). Census included zero preschool children in care. Facility Representative was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. The facility operates according to the Folsom Cordova Unified School District schedule and has a morning and afternoon program. The morning program operates Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and the afternoon program operates 11:45 AM to 2:45 PM.
Indoor Space: The new classroom measures 952.65 square feet, which will accommodate the capacity of 24. LPA observed two toilets and two sinks for children's use. There is a separate staff bathroom. There are two additional sinks in the classroom, one for teachers and one for children.
Outdoor Space: The outdoor space measures 9226.38 square feet, which will accommodate the capacity of 24. LPA observed work on the playground was in process, with the resilient material being installed under the installed age rated play structures, the fencing complete other than the gates which still need to be installed, and shade structures, which will be installed prior to opening the classroom. M1 stated there will be temporary shade structures for now, and later there will be a permanent shade structure installed. M1 stated they understand the facility must provide notice to the Department prior to beginning renovation, construction, and/or updating of facility site. In the future a water fountain will be installed on the playground, and for now staff are providing refills to personal water bottles from bottled water provided by the facility.
No deficiencies were cited during today's inspection. This report was reviewed with M1 and D1.
The Department will approve the room change of this preschool program from Room K1 to Preschool Room when the following items are completed/updated and submitted to LPA:
1. The new facility space(s) must be approved for intended use as preschool indoor and outdoor activity space by the Fire Marshal.
2. The LIC 200 must be updated to include the new room designation and updated with a "wet signature."
3. Current work on the playground must be completed, including installation of shade structures, the rest of the resilient material, and two gates.
4. Final review and approval by LPM. |
