25 | On Thursday, November 29, 2023, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Amanda Sutter and Lea Habtom met Director Crystal Johnson for the purpose of an unannounced required annual inspection. LPA observed 30 preschool children and 5 toddler children supervised by eight staff. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
LPA toured classroom space, restroom, kitchen, and outdoor play area. LPA observed the following documents are posted: License, Earthquake Preparedness, Parents' Rights Poster, menu, schedule, and seat belt law. Cleaning disinfectants and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Director stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. The facility provides breakfast, lunch, and three snacks.
LPAs observed trash bins with tight fitted lids. LPAs observed the facility’s paper sign in and out system. Facility has record of conducting fire drills at least every six months; last fire drill was conducted January 26, 2024. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts and rubber bark is present under the equipment to provide sufficient cushioning. There are sufficient equipment and toys, and shaded areas are supplied by trees and a shade structure. Drinking water is readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Director stated that water is supplied using pitchers and cups indoors, and an igloo container outdoors.
Eight staff and eight children's records were reviewed. Children’s files were observed to be complete. There is at least one staff member present with a current CPR certificate.
