32 | Through children, parents, and staff interviews, LPA learned children are offered nap and/or resting times after lunch. Staff guides the children to sleep by patting their backs with one or two children at a time. LPA observed a staff patting children to sleep, and appropriately guiding children verbally and physically to their nap mats. According to parent interviews, children are offered quite activities on their nap mats when they are resting. LPA also observed staff guiding children’s behaviors by redirecting their attention, offering choices, and finding a calming spot to sit. Over multiple observations, LPA witnessed staff addressing children’s behavioral challenges with appropriate language and communication. The observations and interviews also revealed that Disney, Kid’s Pop, nature, and instrumental musics are being played both inside and outside the classrooms. A parent stated, “The most often music I hear is Moana. I’m not sure if I hear any other music being played that often.” Based on interviews, LPA learned parents do not have concerns regarding staff and children’s verbal and physical interactions at the facility.
Therefore, although the alleged violations may have happened or are valid, the preponderance of evidence standard has not been met to fully prove or disprove that they did or did not occur, therefore they are unsubstantiated. There is no deficiency issued today. An exit interview was conducted and notice of site visit and appeal rights were provided to Director Tiffany Alvarez. |
