25 | On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Tanya Washington and Lea Habtom met with designated Facility Representative (FR) Ines Lami for the purpose of an unannounced annual/ random inspection. Shortly after LPAs arrival, District Office Site Supervisor (DO), Reem Zidan arrived to the facility to assist LPAs with the inspection. At the time of arrival, no children were present in the classroom, at about 12:06 PM, Staff brought in the PM group of six children. Facility operates in classroom #11 and have their own designated playground. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 12 PM and 12 PM to 3 PM.
LPAs toured all classroom spaces, restrooms, and outdoor play area. LPAs observed the following documents are posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Earthquake Preparedness, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, menu, and seat belt law. Cleaning disinfectants, medications and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Facility Representative stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary and operating condition. The program provides breakfast for the AM program and lunch for the PM program. All meals are delivered to the classroom and prepared by Joyce Elementary School cafeteria.
LPAs observed trash bins with tight fitted lids. Drinking water is readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. LPAs observed the facility’s sign in and out system used on Learning Genie. Facility has record of conducting fire drills at least every six months; last fire drill was conducted February 18, 2025. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. There is sufficient equipment and toys, and there are shaded areas supplied by a shade structure.
Staff files and children's records were reviewed. Both children and staff files were observed to be complete. There is at least one staff member present with a current CPR certificate. LPAs observed a functional carbon monoxide detector.
