32 | Playground equipment and surfaces were inspected and are in good condition, with enough resilient material under climbing structures to absorb a fall. LPAs observed tools located by the backdoor to the playground, including hedge-clippers. LPAs also observed a screwdriver located on the playground, at a table with a chair. Director removed items during time of inspection. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises. Director stated there are no poisons on the premises.
LPA reviewed present staff files. Upon review the Licensee did not have a current CPR certification. LPAs observed licensee leave to pick up a child at approximately 1:50pm. There is a staff member that has a valid CPR, however staff stated in an interview that they left to pick up a child earlier in the day, leaving the facility without a staff member with valid CPR. This is a repeat violation. Facility was previously cited for valid CPRs on 4/17/25. A civil penalty was assessed for $250 for repeating a violation in the same year.
LPA observed immunization records and documentation of the educational background, training, and/or experience of staff. LPA observed that 2 out of 2 staff members did not have record of measles immunizations in their staff files. Upon review, all staff members had current mandated reporter trainings. LPA advised AB 1207 Mandated Reporter training must be renewed every two years and can be renewed at www.mandatedreporterca.com.
A sample of 4 children's records were reviewed. Each child's file contained an emergency card, consent for emergency medical treatment, health history, a record of immunization’s, and notifications of personal and parent’s rights. Upon review 4 files did not include an Acknowledgement of Receipt of Licensing Reports for type A citations that were cited in the past year. There were 3 type A citations from 6/10/25 and 1 type A citation on 5/15/25.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1597.16.
