25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kelly Ferrara met with Director Becky del Piero to conduct an inspection to decrease capacity of the preschool. Director has requested an decrease in capacity from 111 to 40 preschool children. There are currently 38 children in care with four staff. The facility's hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. The facility will operate in rooms PC4 and PC5 and there are two bathrooms. LPA used measurements previously taken for the two classrooms which was a total of 1,958 square feet. This will accommodate the request for 40 children. LPA Ferrara received an approved fire clearance from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department.
LPA observed sufficient amount of furniture, toys, cubbies, and play equipment in the classrooms. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide and smoke detector. LPA observed disinfectants and medications are inaccessible and appropriately stored. There is a sufficient amount of sinks and toilets for the children to use.
LPA observed the outdoor play area is fenced and equipped with a sufficient amount of play equipment and toys and material to absorb a fall. There is shade and water available for children. LPA used previous measurements for the outdoor play area. The total playground area is 4027.308 square feet, which is sufficient outdoor activity space for the requested 40 children.
Director was reminded of Covid guidelines and was encouraged to visit the Department website at WWW.CCLD.CA.GOV for child care updates, PINs, current forms, legislation, and regulation information. An exit interview was conducted and there were no deficiencies observed at the time of the inspection. Notice of Site was provided and must remain posted for 30 days. The new capacity is approved as of today’s date, November 2nd, 2021. |
