25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Amanda Blesi met with Licensee, Vera Guseva, for the purpose of an unannounced required 1-year inspection. Licensee states her husband and adult son, Daniel, are also present upstairs today. LPA observed two day care children in care ages 4 1/2 and 6 years old.
At 4:00 PM, Licensee guided LPA on a tour of the facility, and a health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include second floor of the home, laundry room, garage and backyard shed. Licensee acknowledged that children must never enter these areas. LPA observed the required postings, a working phone, 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Per Licensee, there are no weapons in the home .LPA did not observe bodies of water at the facility. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Fireplace is barricaded to prevent access by children. Outdoor play space is fenced and backyard shed was observed locked during today's inspection. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
A current roster is being maintained and fire and disaster drills are documented. Current CPR and First Aid certification was verified and expires 2/2024. Licensee is exempt from Mandated Reporter requirement due to Primary language is Russian.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States
