On 01/31/2024 at approximately 9:00am, Centralized Application Bureau (CAB) Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Arianna Manabat and LPA Tanya Washington met with Licensee Representative Corrie Buckmaster the purpose of a case management - licensee initiated inspection. The purpose of today's visit was to measure the new space that is being used for the toddler and the infant play yard as the facility installed a new fence, recently, to allot space to infants and toddlers separately.

In addition, one more component of today's visit was for the purpose of meeting with the Facility Representative and contractors working with the school district to discuss the materials that are being used on the play yard, expansion of the infant yard into the toddler yard, expansion of cushioning, and a permanent installation of a shade structure. Materials include the turf that is installed in both infant and toddler yards, the play structures that have been installed, the separation of the yards, and the shade structures that will be installed for the infant yard.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
During the visit, LPAs observed two outdoor areas on the property, one designated for toddlers and one for infants. CAB LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment and toys available for use. On the toddler side there is a structure that is designed for children ages two to 12. LPAs discussed the limitations of the structure with the facility representative as there are children under the age of 2 who will be using the play structure. CAB LPA measured both yards for a total of 2,155.83 square feet for the infant yard, which will accommodate the 9 infants that the facility is currently licensed for. LPA Manabat measured the Toddler yard as 6,567 square feet, which will accommodate the 16 toddlers that the facility is currently licensed for.

The Infant and Toddler yards are fenced with a wrought iron fence that is at least four feet tall. The two yards are separated by another wrought iron fence that uses a push handle to keep the gate closed. LPAs observed a variety of age-appropriate outdoor toys and equipment. The play structure on the infant side stated that it is designed for children 6-23 months. There are no bodies of water on the premises. There are shaded areas on the toddler side via a canopy. The Infant side does not currently have a shade structure. LPA Washington has already cited for this deficiency on a report dated 12/06/2023. The facility will provide a temporary pop-up canopy/tent that will serve to provide shade.

During today's case management, the facility representative and contractors stated that they are planning to relocate the fence that separates the infant from the toddler yard to allot more room to the infants. In addition, construction will begin in near future, date is not set at this point in time, to extend the cushioning and flooring that is currently being used. This cushioning and flooring is the turf that is installed in the infant and toddler yards. LPA Manabat discussed with the facility representative and contractors that the use for turf under the infant play structure is sufficient material that will meet regulations.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Licensee Representative.
