25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Loraine Perez met with, Licensee Charlotte Findlay (Licensee), for an unannounced inspection. There is a census of five children in care today, one infant and four preschool age children. Present in the home during today’s inspection are the licensee, licensee’s husband, and licensee’s minor nephew who is not counted in ratio. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. Facilities hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in the areas accessible to children. Licensee requests to change the backyard from On limits to Off limits as of today’s inspection. Updated Off limit areas include the entire second floor, garage, locked sheds, backyard, and laundry room. Licensee understands that children may never enter off-limits areas. LPA observed a working telephone, functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and a 2A10BC fire extinguisher within the home. LPA observed the home was safe, orderly, and free of hazards. LPA observed a variety of age-appropriate toys. Licensee stated there are no firearms on the premises. LPA observed stairs and fireplace are barricaded to meet regulation. LPA observed an in-ground pool that is fully fenced and has a gate that opens away from the pool area that is self-closing and self-latching.
Licensee stated poises are kept in a utility closet that has a key lock door. Licensee understands that if there are any poisons in the home, all poisons must be locked with a key lock or combination lock. LPA observed all required postings, a children's roster and fire drill log. Last fire drill was conducted on 10/2024. LPA reviewed records of children’s files and staff files, all of which contained the required documentation. Licensee has current EMSA-approved pediatric CPR/First Aid which expires 07/2026 and Mandated Reporter certifications which expires 10/2026. Licensee understands both CPR and Mandated Reporter training must be completed every two years.
