25 | On Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tanya Washington met with Licensees Shelley and Ian Levin for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed both licensees providing care and supervision to seven daycare children, also present in the home is their minor child.
All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. Licensee confirmed that there are no new residents or employees in the home. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8 AM to 3:30 PM and Fridays from 8 AM to 12:30 PM.
A health and safety evaluation was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Licensees mainly operate their program outdoors. Off-limit areas include: both bedrooms in the home and shed in the backyard. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. LPA observed that the facility is clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair. LPA observed a functioning smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and a full 3A40BC fire extinguisher. The facility has adequate toys that appear to be safe for children to use. The licensee stated there are no weapons or poisons in the home. There is no fireplace in the home. The outdoor play area is fenced. There is no pool on the premises of the home. LPA reminded Licensee to provide 100% supervision to children in unfenced areas and around bodies of water.
LPA reviewed four children’s files which were observed to be complete. Required postings and the children’s roster were observed. Licensee stated that currently there are no infants enrolled in the facility. LPA observed a current fire drill log, last drill conducted 12/14/2023. Licensees CPR/First Aid cards expire 02/2025. Licensees Mandated Reporter training certificates expired 05/28/2023.
LPA verified that the annual fees are current. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
