On Thursday, 09/16/21, at 10:25am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jan Hoshida conducted an unannounced random annual inspection and an increase of capacity inspection. LPA met with Licensee Claudia Pate-Duran. Licensee had applied to change from a Small Family Child Care Home to a Large Family Child Care Home. LPA observed there were six day care children present in the facility during this inspection. The off-limit areas include all three bedrooms, garage, and locked shed in backyard. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. Licensee stated that she would also like to put her RV off-limits as well and that the children never enter the RV. Licensee stated there are no new residents in the home since licensure. All adult residents have criminal record clearances. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 6:00pm.

LPA observed current CPR/First Aid certificates which expire on 1/23/22. LPA reviewed all enrolled children’s files. LPA observed fire drills were conducted at least once every six months and documented. LPA observed that there were no hazardous items accessible to children. LPA observed fireplace which was screened. LPA observed that cleaning materials were inaccessible. Fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector meet regulation. Toys appear to be safe. The backyard is fenced and gated. Licensee stated that there are no weapons in the home. LPA discussed current COVID guidelines with Licensee. A fire clearance was obtained from the Sacramento City Fire Department by 09/08/2021.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
