32 | This facility provides Incidental Medical Services- IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
LPA did not observe current Mandated Reporter Training on file at time of inspection, this is considered a potential risk to the children in care. Beginning January 1, 2018, Health and Safety Code 1596.8662 requires all licensed providers, applicants, directors and employees to complete training as specified on their mandated reporter duties and to renew their training every two years. Volunteers are encouraged but not required to take the training. In addition, existing licensees must meet requirements by March 30, 2018. This training requirement may be met by using the Department’s Office of Child Abuse Prevention (OCAP) online training modules. The OCAP modules are free of cost and available at: HTTP://WWW.MANDATEDREPORTERCA.COM/. The training is currently provided in English and is approximately six to seven hours long. AB1207 Training.
LPA provided the Community Care Licensing’s website www.ccld.ca.gov, so the licensee can obtain updated licensing information, new regulations and access forms. LPA advised licensee of their responsibility to stay current in regards to new regulations.
