25 | On October 12, 2022 at approximately 9:45 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Josiah Gathing met with Director Brittany Ackerson for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. There were no School Age children in care at the time of today's inspection. The facility has a maximum capacity of 46. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
LPA toured the classrooms, office, children’s restrooms, and front and side outdoor play areas. Director stated there are no firearms on the premises. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts and the ground below the play structures are sufficiently padded. Restrooms are in sanitary condition with functioning toilets. The floors were clean throughout the facility. Medications are stored in the office, out of children’s reach and labeled according to regulation.
LPA observed that solid waste containers were covered. Per Director, the facility provides AM and PM snacks as well as breakfast. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. LPA observed a sign in and out sheet which showed all children present with parent’s full signatures.
LPA reminded Director to ensure all required staff documents are kept on file. LPA observed staff had current Mandated Reporter certificates. At least one staff member had current CPR/First Aid certificate on file.
LPA observed the sample of children’s files contained the appropriate documents. LPA observed a current fire drill log last dated October 3, 2023 and current CPR certificate which will expire July 31, 2024. LPA observed first aid equipment, functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and a fully charged fire extinguisher meeting regulation. Required documents were posted near the entrance.
