25 | On December 20, 2022 at approximately 12:55 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Josiah Gathing met with Director Brittany Ackerson for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. LPA observed care and supervision of 22 preschool children by 3 fully qualified teachers. The facility has a maximum capacity of 90. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
LPA toured the classrooms, office, children’s restrooms, and front and back outdoor play areas. Director stated there are no firearms on the premises. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts and the ground below the play structures are sufficiently padded. Restrooms are in sanitary condition with functioning toilets. The floors were clean throughout the facility. Medications are stored in the office, out of children’s reach and labeled according to regulation.
LPA observed that solid waste containers were covered. Per Director, the facility provides AM and PM snacks as well as breakfast. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. LPA observed a sign in and out sheet which showed all children present with parent’s full signatures.
All present staff files were reviewed and found to be complete. LPA observed staff had current Mandated Reporter certificates issued in 2022. LPA advised Director to ensure that Pediatric CPR and First Aid training is completed every two years.
LPA observed the sample of children’s files contained the appropriate documents. LPA observed a current fire drill log last dated December 8, 2022. LPA observed complete children’s roster on file. LPA observed first aid equipment, functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and a fully charged fire extinguisher meeting regulation. Required documents were posted near the entrance.
