25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kyrsten Williams conducted an unannounced annual inspection and met with the Licensee, Katrina Zapata. LPA observed three children in care with the licensee and the assistant. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
LPA conducted a health and safety inspection and observed that the facility is clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair with ventilation. LPA observed the required documents were posted where visible to parents. The facility has equipment and toys safe for children. LPA observed that there were no hazardous items—such as cleaning compounds, medications, or sharp objects—accessible to children. LPA observed an electric fire place that does not get hot to the touch. The fire extinguisher appeared to be in working condition and accessible. LPA observed a dual smoke and carbon monoxide detector that is functioning. The play yard is fenced, and the licensee acknowledged that in areas that are not fenced, 100% supervision is required. The licensee stated there are no weapons, poisons, or bodies of water on the premises. During inspection licensee requested to make the first bedroom on the left side of the hall an off-limits area. Off limit areas include bedroom #1, master bedroom, and storage shed in the backyard. The licensee acknowledged that child care children may never enter these off-limit areas.
LPA observed a current children's roster and fire drill log. LPA reviewed required documentation to be kept in each child's file. LPA observed the CPR/First Aid certificate expired in May 2024. During inspection, licensee scheduled to retake the CPR/First Aid training on February 5, 2025. LPA observed a current Mandated Reporter certificate for the licensee which expires February 2025. The licensee was reminded the CPR/First Aid training and Child Care portion of Mandated Reporter training must be completed every two years. LPA reviewed staff and facility files and observed the required documentation.
The licensee was informed of the www.MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
