25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gagandeep Singh met with licensee, Maricar Obmerga, for an inspection. Licensee has applied for increase of capacity from eight to fourteen children in care. Purpose of today’s inspection to conduct the annual inspection and inform the requirements and regulation for large family day care license. The purpose of the inspection was explained. Licensee lives in a single story home. Present, there are five children in care with licensee and one helper. All adults living or working in the home have criminal background check on file. Licensee is operating within the capacity of this date. Per licensee, licensee operates from Monday to Friday between 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
LPA inspected the day care areas. Day Care Areas: Living room, Hallway, Bathroom in hallway, Bedroom in hallway (opposite side of bathroom) and Backyard. Off limit areas: Master bedroom, Bedroom # 2, Kitchen, Dining area and Garage. There is no pool, spa or any other body of water in the house. As per licensee, there is no firearm or weapon in the house. All the cleaning supplies, poisons and other chemicals are stored inaccessible to the children. Cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom have child protective locks installed. Fireplace is barricaded. The house is in good repair and free of hazards with proper temperature and ventilation. There is carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector, fully charged fire extinguisher and working telephone available in the house. There is a variety of age appropriate toys in the house.
LPA reviewed the facility records. LPA observed License and other required documents posted in the child care areas. LPA discussed the ratio and capacity requirements of a large license with the licensee and provided a handout. Local fire department has conducted the inspection of the house on March 28, 2024 and provided the approval to the Department. Licensee has record of CPR training valid until March 16, 2026 and mandated reporter training valid until February 07, 2026. Licensee has a fire drill log in place and per log, last drill was conducted on February 06, 2024. LPA also reviewed the present children's record. |
