On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at approximately 12:20 PM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Josiah Gathing met with Assistant Director Icee Lawson, for the purpose of a complaint investigation and to deliver findings. It was alleged that a lack of supervision caused a daycare child to hit another daycare child resulting in injury. Throughout the course of the investigation, LPA conducted interviews, reviewed documents, and made observations. LPA observed full supervision and adequate teacher to child ratios throughout the investigation. LPA observed Ouch Moment reports in the Building Kidz app. LPA observed paper Ouch reports on file. Parents stated in interview that they believe supervision is sufficient in the facility and that staff provide sufficient communication about their children throughout the day, including incidents and injuries. Staff stated in interview that teacher to child ratios are always maintained and that any incidents or injuries are communicated with the parents.
Although the alleged violations may have happened or are valid, the preponderance of evidence standard has not been met to fully prove or disprove that they did or did not occur, therefore, they are unsubstantiated. An exit interview was conducted and a notice of site visit provided. Notice of site visit shall remain posted for 30 days.
