25 | On Tuesday, 1 October, 2024, at approximately 2:15pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Fabian Schwartz met with Licensee, Martha Quero-Flores for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed licensee supervising 4 preschool children. Also present at time of inspection were licensee’s husband and two adult children. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. LPA observed proper ratio and capacity was being followed. Facility hours of operation are 24/7. LPA verified that the annual fees are current.
A health and safety evaluation was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Facility is a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom one story home. Facility has an appropriately barricaded fireplace. During inspection, Licensee wished to add Laundry room to Off-limits areas. Off-limit areas now include: All five Bedrooms, Laundry Room, Shed, and Portion of the yard behind the shed. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. LPA observed that the facility is clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair. LPA observed a functioning smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and a full 2A10BC fire extinguisher. The facility has adequate toys that appear to be safe for children to use. The licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. LPA observed that there is a fenced backyard with no pool. During inspection, LPA observed can of poison bug killer stored with other chemical cleaners. Although it was inaccessible to children in care, it was not behind a lock as per licensing regulations.
LPA reviewed 3 children’s files which were observed to be complete. Required postings were seen in entrance hallway and the children’s roster was observed. The facility has record of conducting fire drills at least every 6 months with the last fire drill being conducted on 28 May 24. Licensee’s CPR/First Aid card expires 15 Mar 25. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter certificate expires 23 August 25. Licensee understands that trainings must be completed every two years.
