25 | On Wednesday, 14 August, 2024, at approximately 2:15am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Fabian Schwartz met with Licensee, Detra Bryant, for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed licensee and licensee’s husband supervising 10 children. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. LPA observed proper ratio and capacity was being followed. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday 5:00am-6:30pm. LPA verified that the annual fees are current.
A health and safety evaluation was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Facility is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom one story home. Off-limit areas include: Bedrooms 2 and 3, Master Bathroom, and Garage. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. LPA observed that the facility is clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair. LPA observed a functioning smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and a full 2A10BC fire extinguisher. The facility has adequate toys that appear to be safe for children to use. LPA observed a poison bug killer with the stored cleaners on high shelf of laundry room. During inspection, Licensee moved bug killer to locked part of facility, bringing home back into Title 22 compliance. The licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. LPA observed that there is a fenced backyard with no pool.
LPA reviewed 4 children’s files which were observed to be complete. Required postings were seen immediately to the right of front door and the children’s roster was observed. LPA observed infant sleep plan (LIC 9227) and 15-minute observation checks for napping infants. The facility has record of conducting fire drills at least every 6 months with the last fire drill being conducted on 15 July 24. Licensee’s CPR/First Aid card expires 12 Jan 25. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter certificate expires 8 Aug 26. Licensee understands that trainings must be completed every two years.
