25 | At 1:15 PM. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Josiah Gathing met with Director Katherin Wright for the purpose of a case management - Licensee initiated inspection. LPA observed a census of 43 preschool children supervised by 7 staff. The facility requests to add a toddler component of 12 children to the license, with the total capacity increasing from 72 to 79. The fire safety inspection was completed 12/13/2022 and LPA is awaiting receipt of the approved STD 850.
The indoor and outdoor activity spaces were measured previously and have not changed. The toddler component will be separated from the preschool in Room 2 by a wall that is at least four feet in height. The toddler outdoor play area will be in the fenced space to the right of the main building, and will be shared in alternating shifts with the preschool children. Additionally, the facility has a waiver for the indoor gym area which will be used for play by toddlers and preschool children. Director will submit a waiver request for the shared play areas and provide an outdoor play schedule. LPA observed a sufficient amount of supplies and age appropriate materials indoors and outdoors. LPA reminded Director that equipment used by toddler children shall be age appropriate and toddler children shall not commingle with preschool children.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
