25 | At 11:15am on 3/5/2024, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Matthew Gallo and Loraine Perez met with licensee Krystal King or the purpose of an unannounced required 1-year inspection. Licensee states no others are present in the home today except for their assistant and husband, who were present for the inspection. At 11:15am, LPAs observed a total census of 9 children consisting of 8 preschool children and 1 infant.
Licensee guided LPAs on a tour of the facility, and a health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include all upstairs, bedrooms, and garage. Licensee acknowledged that children must never enter these areas. LPAs observed the required postings, a working phone, 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Per Licensee, there are no weapons in the home. There is a hot tub spa on the property that is properly made inaccessible by a locked hard cover. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. There is a fireplace in the home that has the gas disconnected and features a glass screen. Stairs are properly fenced to prevent access to children. Outdoor play space is fenced.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPAs reviewed 9 children’s files and observed them to be complete. A current roster is being maintained and fire and disaster drills are documented. Current CPR and First Aid certification was verified and expires 3/2025, and AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training was verified for the licensee and expires 12/2024.
