25 | At 2:40 p.m. on Friday, April 28th, 2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Karyn Guerra met with Licensee, Afsaneh Taghi Khari, for the purpose of an unannounced required - 1 year inspection. Licensee was picking up children from school upon LPA's arrival to facility. Licensee arrived at 3:10 p.m. LPA observed a census of 2 school aged children. Hours of operation are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Licensee was reminded that care shall not exceed a 24 hour period. LPA reviewed overnight care regulations. Off-limits areas: Bedroom 1, Bedroom 2, Bedroom 3, Bathroom 1, Laundry Room, and Garage. Licensee understands that child care children must not enter the off limits areas of the home.
All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. LPA observed the required postings, a working phone, 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Licensee stated that there are no weapons nor poisons in the home. Toxic and hazardous items were appropriately stored, inaccessible to children. Fireplace has a glass covering that does not get hot to the touch. Fire Drills have been conducted and documented.
LPA reviewed staff files and observed current in person EMSA CPR and First Aid certification, expiring December 2023. Licensee stated that their son was updating the new children's files.
