25 | On Tuesday, 20 August, 2024, at approximately 5:15 pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Fabian Schwartz met with Licensee, Tamara Shine, for the purpose of an announced annual inspection and capacity increase. Upon arrival, LPA observed licensee and assistants supervising 1 child. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. LPA observed proper ratio and capacity was being followed. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00am-5:00pm. LPA verified that the annual fees are current.
A health and safety evaluation was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Facility is a 6 bedroom, 5 bathroom two-story home. Off-limit areas include: Downstairs Bedrooms and Bathroom, Entire Upstairs, and Garage. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. LPA observed that the facility is clean, sanitary, and in good repair. LPA observed a functioning smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and a full 2A10BC fire extinguisher. The facility has adequate toys that appear to be safe for children to use. Cleaners are stored in outside locked shed which is inaccessible to children in care. The licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. LPA observed that there is a fenced backyard with a pool. The fencing around the pool meets Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3 Regulations with a self closing, self latching gate that swings away from the pool. LPAs observed a mesh pool fencing that has been installed and separates the windows facing the pool; the fencing makes the pool inaccessible to the windows. The Licensee provided proof of control of property.
LPA reviewed 3 children’s files which were observed to be complete. Required postings were seen in child’s play room and the children’s roster was observed. LPA observed 15-minute observation checks for napping infants. The facility has record of conducting fire drills at least every 6 months with the last fire drill being conducted on 20 June 24. Licensee’s CPR/First Aid card expires 22 July 26. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter certificate expires 6 June 26. Licensee understands that trainings must be completed every two years.
