25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jennie Tedlos met with Director Kim Amali, for the purpose of an unannounced Annual Inspection. Facility hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-4:30PM. There were 2 School Aged children present supervised by 1 staff at the start of the inspection. LPA reviewed the sign in/sign out book and observed that all children are properly signed into the facility. LPA verified all staff have a criminal record clearance.
The Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA inspected the classroom space, restrooms, and the outdoor play areas. The facility is located on a lot with other businesses including a swim school. LPA observed all required forms to be posted. LPA observed that hazardous items, including disinfectants and cleaning solutions, were inaccessible to children in care. Furniture, equipment, and toileting facilities are in operable, sanitary, and safe condition. The outdoor play area was toured. The outdoor play area is fenced with umbrellas that provide shade. There is a pool that belongs to the neighboring swim school on the premises that is separated from the outdoor play area with a 5 foot tall wrought iron fence. A waiver is on file allowing the facility to use the pool area. The waiver is posted at the facility. The pool is currently not being used as it is under construction and inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed functioning carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, and a fire extinguisher that meets regulation.
