25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Pedro Solorio and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Susy Cervantez met with licensee Katilyn Wenz for an unannounced annual inspection. LPA explained the nature of today’s inspection to her. Present were licensee, licensee's husband Kyle Wenz, father Tom Connors, assistants Sarah Seastrom and Jennifer Gupton with 13 preschool children. Days and hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6:00pm. The adults that reside in the home are licensee, her husband, father and three nieces ages 11, 9 and 7.
A review of staff records on 03/03/2025 indicates that all Facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee Katilyn Wenz was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to initial presence in a Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if the regulation is violated.
LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home during today’s inspection. LPA observed that the home is clean and orderly, with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort of the children. LPA observed a barricaded fireplace and wood burning stove in the home. LPA observed safe and sufficient materials, toys, and play equipment for the day care children. All sharp objects, detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, poisons, and other similar items inside the home are stored inaccessible to children. LPA observed a fully charged and serviced 3A40BC fire extinguisher. LPA observed a working combo smoke and carbon monoxide detector. Licensee states there are no weapons/firearms in the home. Off limit areas indoor: two bedrooms, den, one bathroom, laundry closet and kitchen. There are no bodies of water. Backyard is fenced. Off limits outdoor: entire backyard. Licensee uses a portion of the left side front yard for outdoor play. There is one dog in the home that licensee states stays in the backyard and is vaccinated. LPA observed licensee, husband have a current CPR and First Aide Certification expiring 06/14/2026. Aides Sarah, and Jennifer have a current CPR and First Aid certification expiring 03/4/2027. All staff have completed Mandated Reporter training. |
